Lessons from established healthcare and life sciences highlight vulnerabilities in consensual processes, where top-down policies have sometimes overridden individual choice; delays in adopting evolving practices; legislative frameworks that can shield entities from rigorous independent scrutiny; and accountability shortfalls, including reliance on non-independent oversight, mandates that disregard variability in needs, and approaches that erode trust through perceived coercion.
